Houston (CBS Houston)–Tonight wasn’t T.J. Yates night, on a night where the former Houston Texans quarterback probably would have wanted it to be.
Yates went 4 for 11 for 63 yards with two interceptions for the Atlanta Falcons in the Texans 32-7 preseason win tonight, one of them Andre Hal’s 64 yard fourth quarter pick-six. This, in his first meeting with Houston since they traded him for linebacker Akeem Dent one day after announcing that he would be released.
Yates wasn’t too happy about it, either.
“It was bad,” Yates said of his performance. “Not a lot of stuff went right. Miscommunications out there on the field. Bad passes. Just about everything went wrong.”
It’s been an unfortunate turn of events for Yates since 2011, when he started the Texans only postseason win in franchise history, to now, where he’s third-string behind Matt Ryan and Sean Renfree.
Tonight wasn’t a reprieve.
