Players Support QB Decision; Nate Burleson Thinks Johnny Manziel Is The Best No. 2 In NFL

BEREA (92.3 The Fan) – As the horn sounded signaling the end of individual drills Thursday, Johnny Manziel quietly took a knee behind the offense.

It was time for Brian Hoyer to lead the offense. And his turn to watch.

Such is the life of a backup quarterback after Hoyer was named the Browns starter Wednesday.

“Johnny’s still the man,” Burleson said. “He’s still a really good quarterback. He’s an NFL quality starting quarterback. I don’t mind the guy making mistakes, especially young in his career.

Despite Manziel’s propensity for making headlines – whether it’s riding inflatable swans or flipping off the Redskins bench on national TV, Burleson doesn’t think there would’ve been or will be an issue with the team getting behind the rookie.
