Cavs Coach David Blatt On Kyrie Irving’s Injury Status: ‘He Did Take A Step Forward Today’

INDEPENDENCE (92.3 The Fan) – After being held out of Saturday’s Global Games preseason matchup in Brazil due to an ankle injury, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving did not participate in full five-on-five team practice on Monday.

However, Irving did take part in some non-contact drills at Cleveland Clinic Courts and did not require any sort of walking boot or foot protection following practice.

“Kyrie moved around a good bit today,” coach David Blatt said. “That’s a good sign. He’s coming along. We’re not going to rush it. We’re being careful because we want him back on his feet, full strength. He did take a step forward today, no question.”

As for when Irving will be back in a preseason game, the Cavs’ coach feels it is important for the fourth-year guard to log some full practice time first.
