ARLINGTON, Texas — His time as the starting quarterback is limited. Colt McCoy knows the reality of life in the NFL as well as anyone.
Robert Griffin III will be ready to play soon – if not Sunday at Minnesota then surely at Tampa Bay on Nov. 16 after a bye week. But if this was his only start for Washington this season, McCoy made it a memorable one in a 20-17 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
McCoy was far from perfect. But he was again efficient. He completed 25 of 30 passes for 299 yards. His quarterback rating was 94.3. He even scrambled for 16 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown run that conjured memories of his days at the University of Texas when he was as good as any college quarterback in the country.
