CALGARY — The Calgary Flames clinched an NHL playoff berth for the first time in six years with a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.
Calgary also eliminated the defending Stanley Cup champion Kings from post-season contention.
Jiri Hudler scores twice, including an empty-net goal, with Johnny Gaudreau also scoring for the Flames.
Calgary’s Jonas Hiller stopped 33 shots for the win, while Jonathan Quick had 22 saves in the loss.
The Flames will face the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of playoffs.
Calgary concludes their regular season on the road Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets.
