It took 19 years for the Winnipeg Jets to return to the playoffs. So it seems sort of cruel that after all that waiting, the team would be bounced from the first round in a four-game sweep.

After three straight losses to Anaheim, Winnipeg’s Blake Wheeler was asked if there was anything his Jets could learn from the way the Ducks had played.

“You want us to fall behind and come back and score in the last minute?” he said.

He wasn’t serious, but they tried it anyway.

Despite a comeback attempt of their own, two late goals from noted villain Ryan Kesler gave the Ducks a 5-2 win, and a 4-0 series sweep, in the first playoff hockey in this city in 19 years, spanning two franchises. The MTS…
