MLB suspends Chris Sale, Jeff Samardzija 5 games each for Thursday’s brawl vs. Royals

CHICAGO — Chicago White Sox pitchers Chris Sale and  Jeff Samardzija have each been suspended five games for an on-field incident in Thursday’s game against the Kansas City Royals, MLB announced Saturday.

Samardzija and Sale were among five players ejected during the seventh-inning brawl between the Sox and Royals.

The Royals’ Yordano Ventura (7 games), Edison Volquez (5) Lorenzo Cain (2) and Kelvin Herrera (2) were also suspended for the incident, MLB announced.
