(CHICAGO) — Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jake Arrieta allowed one run and three hits while striking out 10 in eight innings Tuesday night for his fourth win of the season, beating the New York Mets 6-1.
Arrieta and Mets rookie Noah Syndergaard battled pitch-for-pitch through five innings before the Cubs broke through in the 6th inning. Starlin Castro doubled home Jorge Soler before Chris Coghlan smacked a two-run home run to right field for his fourth of the season, making the score 3-0. Miguel Montero added a fourth run in the frame on an RBI infield single, driving in Dexter Fowler.
Kris Bryant went 3-for-4 and homered for the third time in four games.
The Cubs have taken the first two games of their series and host the Mets Wednesday night at 7:05 on WGN.
