INDEPENDENCE (92.3 The Fan) – Kyrie Irving isn’t close to 100 percent, and he won’t be in time for the NBA Finals Thursday night.
Irving, who intends to play in the series after missing Games 2 and 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, continues to be limited in practice as he recovers from a sprained right foot a left knee tendinitis.
“I’m not too sure, unless something miraculous happens,” Irving said Monday when asked if he can get to 100 percent. “It’s a day-by-day thing, continue to get treatment and do what it takes.”
Head coach David Blatt painted a bleak picture of Irving’s status leading up to Game 1 Thursday night at Golden State.
“We’re just hoping that he can get out there and play,” Blatt said. “I wouldn’t say he’s had a setback, but progress has been slow.”
