JUPITER (AP) — Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez has sailed through another rehabilitation start, throwing 90 pitches for the Class A Jupiter Hammerheads against the St. Lucie Mets.

Fernandez gave up four hits and one run in seven innings Monday night, with one walk and nine strikeouts. It was his fourth rehab appearance in advance of what’s expected to be a July 2 return to the Miami rotation against San Francisco.

He reached 98 mph on the radar gun at Roger Dean Stadium, the team’s spring training home. Of his 90 pitches, 69 were strikes.

Fernandez’s final rehab start will likely be Saturday for the Marlins’ Double-A affiliate in Jacksonville.

The 2013 NL Rookie of the Year last pitched in the majors on May 9, 2014.
